Of recent discussion on The Essential Herbal list, they sound funny but useful as they eat lots of nasty insects that harm gardens and people. Grasshoppers and ticks, ick!
And can be used as an alarm system, just don't think they would do well here in suburbia.
This is a family of insect and seed-eating, ground-nesting birds resembling partridges, but with featherless heads and spangled grey plumage.
